rear end ratio
Is there an easy way to find out what rear end ratio I have in my '08 A6? Will the vin number tell what's in it? If so, how do I find out? Call a dealer? Just wondering which one I have....Thanks in advance for the help.

No, the VIN won't tell you by itself.
Look at the RPO characters on the white sticker in your glovebox. If there's a GU2 there, the rear axle ratio is 2.73. Otherwise, it's 2.56.
If your car has the Z51 option package, it will be the 2.73 rear axle ratio.

Then your 08 A6 has the 2.56 rear axle ratio, just like mine.
Oops, I just looked up GM8 and that is the RPO code for the 2.56 rear axle ratio.
