When I start turning at a relatively sharp angle at a low speed (while in gear), I notice a scraping and rubbing noise that I can also feel through the steering wheel. If I take it out of gear and continue through the turn, I don't feel anything nor hear the noise. I'm not very mechanically inclined at all and am not sure if it has something to do with my steering or transmission or any of those at all. Unfortunately I prefer not to take it to the dealer where I live because they like to go joy riding in my car and I would like to get some general diagnosis' based off the above issue (if possible) before I go in to get the work done. Thanks for your help!
Believe it or not, it may be the differential fluid. Had the same problem with my 06 coupe. GM has a TSB on it. They'll replace the differential fluid for you, like they did mine.

Sounds like the normal skipping and hopping we all get on sharp turns at low speeds. Its a function of the wide tires. The 86, 97, 03 and now 08 all did/do it.
Just read a few other posts after looking into it further and i am going to get a differential flush and have the friction modifier added to try and eliminate this issue. Thanks for the quick responses everyone.
Friction modifier additive is no longer recommended by GM. Recommended lubricant is GM DEXRON LS GEAR OIL 75W-90 which has a friction modifier ingredient included. Flushing is not part of the recommended procedure either; just drain and refill and then do the required figure 8 driving sequence to work the new fluid into the positraction clutches.

You want GM part # 88862624 , 75W-90 gear oil. Do not use friction modifiers with this fluid, per GM . This is the good stuff. Flushing not required, use drain plug, do not remove cover.
