Shortly after purchase of 2005 c6 my HUD quit working, inspection showed mirror in unit had moved/come out of its clips. Can this be repaired or does it need to be replaced. How hard is it to get to. I am looking for removal/replacement instructions

 

A few have tried repairing the unit but not many had success. With a new HUD costing only about $300, investing time, effort and some money in repair really doesn't make much sense. But you can certainly try.

If you went to a dealer, their official procedure for removing the HUD requires removing the dash, big time and money!

For DIY, what you would basically be doing is what dozens of members here have done to INSTALL a HUD in a non-HUD car, but not quite as much because you already have everything. So you would just get in, unplug the original, remove and replace with new. The problem comes from one possible hurdle from one mounting stud. For the installs, one of the HUD projector housing mounting tabs is notched so it can be slipped or rotated onto the mounting stud. Since your original doesn't have that notch, I don't know how difficult it would be to remove it. I'm pretty sure others have done it so you might want to start a new thread in C6 General asking about that specific issue.

I did a hud replacement on my C-5 and total job start to finish was 2.5 hours. I don't know how long it would be on my C-6
