I am not an RP expert but I believe that is correct for the manual trannies. Be sure it is for DEXRON 3 applications. Do not use DEXRON 6 in a manual tranny under any circumstance. DEX 6 is only suitable for auto A4 & A6.
Is there a good thread for DIY? I searched and didn't find one.
I am using the sycromax in my 06 manual trans. You will need to raise the back end of your car, ramps work well. You will need a pump to refill the trans after draining. There are to plugs , lower plug is the drain, upper plug is the fill. I forget the capacity, its either 2 1/2 qts. , or 3 1/2 qts. [ sorry its been a while ]. There are pictures of this process on the forum, check the stickies, and re check or re word your search, you may find it that way. You can get an inexpensive hand pump at most auto supplies, I recommend the one that screws on to the quart bottle.

Manual trannies will take about 3.6 qts on a refill basis.

..... bone dry I think its like 4.1qts but I've never needed that much to refill. Make sure the car is fairly level when doing this obviously. I've been using RP in the tranny and diff since 2006.

I think you would have to go through a complete overhaul disassembly of the transmission to ever be able to fill it at 4.0 or 4.1 qts. I always level up the car the best I can when changing tranny & diffs. I have done maintenance drain and refills for two C5 Z06 trannys and one C6 Z06 tranny and never came close to using 4 qts.
It made my cat shift much smoother. That oil combined with an MGW shifter really made a difference.
I tried Redline D4 in my 01Z06 after 20k miles but really didn't notice a change in shift quality. I changed the 06Z06 to AMSOIL ATF also at 20k but also never saw any differences in shift quality. So IMHO, I wouldn't do a tranny fluid change for the sole purpose of seeking smoother shifting as I haven't personally seen it. But I did feel good at the time about changing the fluid to a full synthetic for both cars after 20k miles. As I remember, the factory fill DEX-3 was not a synthetic.
Shortly after I bought my 09 Z06, I decided something had to be done about the 1st & 2nd gear "nibbles" and sometime "crunches". I purchased the RP fluid and installed it and it made the shifting worse. I drained the RP(and cried,as the stuff is very expensive) and replaced with Mobil1 DexIII ATF. The Mobil1 restore the shifting to about what it was before the RP fill. Maybe a little better shifting but really difficult to quantify. Now at 15,000 miles, the shifting is better, but not by much. I suspect that the improvement is because the parts have worn in, not because the fluid works any better.
My conclusion is that changing the fluid is not going to solve the problem, maybe mask it a little. GM did make a change in the 2011 transmissions by going to carbon coated synchros to solve the problem. If GM could have solved the problem by changing the transmission fluid formulation they would have.

Wow, I thought those T6060 trans shifted like butter? If you think those trans are nibbly the T56 is very notchy compared to the T6060.
I just changed the trans (T56) and diff fluids in my recently purchased 2006 Z06 with Royal Purple. It shifts much smoother and eliminiated the clunking noises from the differential.

Went to dealer and that's what they gave me was dex 6 for my 2007 manual trans. I told them it said dex 3 on trans, dealer said that's all they use. Should I change it? What will happen?

After the first year, they will likely offer you a multi-year membership renewal. At that time a couple of years ago now, I signed up for 5 years which drove the cost down to $16/year as I recall.

mine's like butter when warm, but notchy when cold. I used redline and that helped decrease the temp needed to not be notchy. Even with the Redline, on a 30* morning it takes a couple miles to feel right.
