Living in south florida I always leave the ac on usually on 2 or 3 fan speed ,and the recirculate engaged all the time. Almost every 2nd or 3rd time I get in and start the car the recirculate light is off and I have to push it on again. Every car i owned prior to this
2005 C6 - Z51 the recirculate would never shut off unless I manually turned it off. Is this normal in the vette ?
To occassionally bring in outside air so you don't (in theory) kill yourself.
My C5 and C6 both periodically turn off the recirc -- there's a time limit built into the system. IIRC, this has been the case in at least GM cars for more than 30 years, with the idea being to ensure that you can't be in a situation in a tight passenger compartment in which the carbon dioxide levels (or carbon monoxide, in the event of an exhaust leak into the compartment) build up to dangerous levels.
Also, your car isn't turning off recirc only once every two or three starts -- it is *always* turning off recirc at *every* shutdown.
What you are seeing when recirc is on at start-up is the car turning recirc *on* if it judges that recirc is needed to help maximize A/C cooldown of the interior. If recirc/max air isn't needed, recirc isn't turned on (as you've observed once every 2-3 starts).
well thats good to know i been wanting to ask same question but i figured prob just a loose connection. good now i wont waste time takin out center console again.
