For those of you that have installed a MGW shifter in there 2008 through 2011 car what did ya'll do about this cover did ya'll trim it or just leave it as is.

I trimmed with tin snips, however IIRC the isolator on my 08 was round, regardless, the hole was cut slightly smaller then the diameter then the shifter body so it fit like a glove.
The directions I got said to trim the lower cover. Note the holes in the OP's pic vs the tabs in the one on the MGW pics..
I trimmed the lower cover and manhandled the top cover on since that step was not mentioned in the instructions. This seems to "puff up" the boot, so i'm thinking about taking it off this weekend.
I'm getting ready to install on an 06, is this an issue for 2005-2007 vehicles too? I don't quite understand the problem; what interference does the boot present?
And this is what the MGW shifter looks like. So if yours looks like the above you will notice that the rubber boots do not fit the same, thus the trimming is needed. I believe the 08 through 11 are different than a 06 from looking at the installation CD that came with the MGW shifter.
