What do you consider lightweight? I'm looking at a set of OMP's down the road and each is @20lbs I think (w/o rails).

Also what do you consider comfortable? Kirkey or Ultrashield seats are very light and work great as long as there aren't a lot of bumps and stones on the road surface. Since they only have about an inch of cushioning material they transmit every bump too your butt.

That is subjective as well. The Kirkey and Ultrashield seats might be comfortable enough once you are in them but getting in and out of the seat especially if you are wearing something fancier than a set of jeans or a driver's suit could be difficult/embarrasing. The method of getting in the car is to sit on the edge of the seat and drop your butt down into the bucket and then to lift your legs over the edge and lower them into the car. Women with skirts might want to drape a blanket over their legs before getting in our out. If done wrong their are some sensitive body parts that can come in contact with the edge in an extremely painful manner.

One other thing about race seats. With a number of them the stock seat belts will not work properly because the lap belt goes across the top of the seat and leaves a gap between your lap and the belt. Either Kirkey or Ultrashield makes a Big Boy seat for drag racers that has lap belt cut outs instead of holes so those ones will let the lap belt work properly. However, you have to use a stock seat track so the lap belts can fasten to the proper belt mounts on the track.

If you don't use the stock belts on the street you are in potential violation of seat belt laws since racing harnesses are not DOT approved.

What do you consider comfortable? Race seats tend to have very thin padding so that you have better feel for what the car is doing. The cushions on the stock seat are actually designed to be part of the suspension system that absorbs vibrations and jarring from the driver. Racing seats also hold you in place more tightly at the hips, thigh and shoulders which can feel restrictive on long drives. So you need to decide what you are looking for... a race seat that holds you in place and connects you to the car....a stock seat that provides more comfort and isolates much of the shock and road feel....or, something in between.

I use my stock seats for daily driving and I use a Cobra Suzuka Pro for track use.

Do you mean TRUE race seats? I have Recaro Pole Positions seats, which are not considered true race seats, but they are much more comfortable AND weigh substantially less than the stockers!

Those seats look outstanding. What is the weight savings?
