i was told that it's the springs that need a few heat cycles to "break in" and the cam does not require anything. Aftert my cam swap here's what I did.
First 2 heat cycles on springs I kept engine below 3000 rpm
Third heat cycle took motor to 4k
Fourth heat cycle, 5k
Fifth heat cycle, 6k
After that, I did'nt worry about it. It gives you and the car a chance to ease into it and make sure everything is behaving.
I have my car tuned at HPS also. I will be going back in a couple weeks after ported FAST, LS7 clutch and tranny brace. My LS2's previous numbers there were 462/430. Hoping for +15/20 with the FAST.
Jeremy was the one that said a minimum of 2 heat cycles on the springs before it goes on the dyno. I also try to keep the motor less than 4k rpm until oil temps are >180. It may be too conservative, but Fter all thattime and money I don't want to find out the hard way.
I remember asking about a break in period with my cam install and was told that they already took care of it and I should just take it easy for about 100 miles or so and then the sky was the limit.

The same with the stall.
Jeff
Thanks. The stall shouldn't be too much of an issue. It was used for a few hundred miles.
My shop said I didn't need to worry about breaking it in... I guess they took care of it if it was necessary. It was a tame 170 mile drive home and I changed the oil after about 400 miles (I saw some people recommended changing oil soon after cam installs in case any debris found its way in during the install).
I've still got less than 1000 miles on the cam though.
