More car problems. So my engine light comes back on yesterday. I stop and get it scanned and it is 3 more heater sensor codes. So i check my O2 sensor fuse and it is blown so obviously something is shorting it out. So I get under the car tonight and both front O2's and the extensions look perfect. I had re-routed everything and they both looked fine but i noticed the passenger side rear O2 sensor was melted. I had not even messed with the back ones because I had them turned off with the tune. So my question is can that still cause the cel's and the fuse to blow? If that is the case than I have another question. I can not get the rear O2 extension unplugged from the other end. I can not reach my hand up high enough under the car to unplug the other end of the extension. I can't reach it from the top either. There has to be a way to unplug it so I can replace it without taking the header off? Any help?
I replaced the drivers side rear O2 sensor on my car. You can get your hand up there from underneath to unplug the connector. However the connector has one of those locking mechanisms that must be disengaged first. It's a pain and requires patience.
I just called the shop in Dallas that tuned my car. What he suggested I do is just not even use the rear O2 sensor. He suggested I just cut it off as far up as I can reach and cut the O2 sensor and plug it back in to plug the hole. He said with it wired in it would still blow the fuse because electricity is still flowing through it. Even though they are tuned out it would still do that if it melted against the header and shorted out. But if I just cut off the ends that it would not create any problem. I trust what he said and I think I am going to try this. Has anyone else done the same thing?
