Just got the targa top replaced on my c6 under recall, now my passenger window clunks when it goes into the weather strip on the top .It looks like it is hitting the screws that hold the weather stripping on, any suggestions.
and not to resurrect an old thread, but I've contacted GM In regard, as I haven't owned the car very long (January 11).
I have a few theories, and mind you, they are theories, but it's either that we have faulty Targa tops, something in maintenance that I skipped and was supposed to do, or the stock tunnel plate is causing a vibration that is working the screws loose.
I'll post on here once I Hear feedback from GM, and hopefully, we will have an answer as to what has caused the issue.
I'm left with a cracked drivers side window due to the indexing and the loose screw, so I really hope I hear good news form them.

I had this problem with my 05, I think I simply screwed in the weather stripping screw. I would take the top off and put it upside down on some protected saw horses to do this. Its worth a try.
however, I've done that twice, and the screws still keep coming out.
So something must be wrong somewhere.
I am very glad to know I'm not the only one having this issue though.
Either way, I hope there is a resolution, and I'm really curious to know the root cause.
My 2006 does this with the painted top. It has contacted the screws and chipped the top of the door glass. There is an adjustment for the glass that is accessed at the bottom of the door. If the screws on the weatherstrip are tight then the glass needs to be adjusted as it is going up too high. There is limited adjustment by going in the bottom of the door. I have not adjusted mine yet, but I will do this soon.
that I may have a defective top. I was under the impression that they should have been setup exactly like that.
GM wasn't able to contact the service adviser today, so they'll try again tomorrow.
Weather permitting, I'll take a pic tomorrow and post it.
I'll also keep everyone interested on the updates from GM.
As soon as I went out to take pics, it started to cloud up.
However, I have heard nothing for the last 2 days from GM, although I'm not rushing them.
I must say, and I'm hoping someone can tell me if this is normal or not, but my E Brake handle always rattles as well. I'm wondering if there really isn't something vibrating the screws loose.
When I first got the car, I asked the service guys about it, and they hinted that it was normal for such a performance car.
While I find that hard to believe, especially after owning a Corvette before, I wasn't going to start anything that would delay my getting the car back after an alternator replacement.
So any ideas, would be greatly appreciated.
I've now been relegated to no call from GM CS.
So, I'm going to replace / upgrade the tunnel plate myself.
I'm going to use the Elite plate instead of stock.
As for the warranty, well, I'll just have to take it on the chin with that.
Lesson learned, and upgrades coming.
I'll also be upgrading to coil over at about the same time, so while it was nice to have a warranty, I'll make sure it's only GMPP the next time, and not a 3rd party, as this seemed to be the sticking point behind GM changing the tunnel plate.
I Learned some neat things about my car in the process, and really look forward to making mods that I normally wouldn't have had the warranty, or GM stepped up to the plate on the tunnel plate.
