During my racing days, I had many events in which Mr Valve met Mr Piston in a not-so-friendly manner (admittedly, none with an LSx). In all cases, the shortblock was fine - I'd bet yours is too.

I think both of you guys are missing the point. In post #6 he says that he runs 2100-2200 rpm at 70 mph in 6th gear. That isn't a stock rear end. I have a z51 and I run 2000 rpm at 80 mph with stock 3.42 in the diff.

I posted a website in post #11 that has mph listed by rpm for all combos of car and rear end. Based on what he stated earlier, 4.10's are the most likely with a chance for 3.90's. Either way, he spun much higher than 7600 rpm, potentially upwards of 9000 rpm. Regardless, he had PTV contact and is now trying to figure out the best way to get his car back in working order. Suggestions and advice is what he is looking for.

I'm putting a new motor in and keeping the old one also as i dont think the short block is hurt either.I would almost say head isnt hurt i looked at it and you can barley see day light threw the valve.I will have the head checked and make sure it isnt hurt and replace the valves. My car was modified when i bought it.It didnt have a rev limiter when i was shifting from 4th to 5th i was turning around 7100 to 7200 rpm so when it went to 3rd there is not telling what it turned. Thanks for everyones input.
