Default Steering Wheel Change no audio controls

Looking for some advice. I have the three spoke C6 wheel with paddle shifters. I want to modify it to have the radio controls on the steering wheel. Possible? Cost? Any vendors that have done this or is it not possible? Is it as easy as buying that type of wheel and replacing it. Or is there some serious wiring issues to hook into the radio? Is there a kit to do this? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Not trying to be a downer but I have a 3lt MN6 and never use the controls on the wheel, but I could see with an auto possibly using them. It seems my hand is only 6 inches or so from the radio since im manually shifting gears, easier to reach than moving to the wheel.
I seem to recall a similar thread and the consensus was that you could not add them. Not sure though?!!?

I use the wheel controls all the time in my Z06. Between the relative stiffness of the car and the rough roads, it's often much easier to just move my thumb than it is to try and aim my bouncing finger at some chicklet on the vibrating/bouncing dash. (It's not nearly as easy as grabbing the shifter )

To the OP: Converting the wheel to having the switches is really easy. But... GM seems to have gone to great lengths to make it difficult to "upgrade" anything electical by using a seeming multitude of wiring harnesses - each one designed to provide only the wires needed for the parts that are on that car. So, almost inevitably, you will find that the wiring you need to add factory feature X is not there and requires either a new harness or some clever wiring of your own. I'm guessing that the wiring for the radio switches isn't there. But it's just an educated guess. It has to go down through the steering column and then back up to the radio.

Whether the radio you have even supports it (Connector? Software?) is another question.

Thanks for the info Triple and Zoxxo! I will continue to look for the information. Both of my other vehicle have steering wheel controls. Guess you could say we are used to them. Zoxxo, I'm with you as I use them all the time. Trying to reach over and find the ****/button is not easy at times when your driving etc.

If you select "search" above, select "advanced search", select "c6 Corvette" for the forum, and enter "steering wheel controls" in the keyword(s) (without the quotes) you'll get more info than you can shake a stick at. But they all say pretty much what I said
