Default Bad radio ***** on 2005

Hi,

I have browsed a lot but not been able to find anyone experiencing similar problems with their stock 2005 radio.
Both the power and the bass/treble ***** has the same problem. They do work when turning (for adj volume and stations) but not when pressing. Ok still the power do work after 10 times or so but I don' dare to turn it off anymore but the bass/treble has stopped working permanent. I guess there are some bad connection when pressing cause it has getting worse year by year...
Has anyone had this problem ? How did you solve it is it a possible DIY ?

Regards/Thomas, from Sweden

Sounds like time for a radio upgrade.

I bought one from Dennis at D&D ready to plug in.

I don't recall seeing that issue posted before. I agree, sounds like it's time to replace the radio. You, or someone else, might be able to disassemble what you have and repair it but.....probably not very easy or likely to be successful. You might try asking in the Audio/Electronics Forum (under General Corvette main menu). Lots of experts in there that might be able to help. Good luck.

The ***** on the radio are press fit. Before you replace the radio remove the ***** and see is the controls work without the *****. Over time the ***** can be forced down the shaft with repeated use and not allow sufficient clearance for the switch to operate.

Yes I tried yesterday with ***** removed it's exactly the same problem. I also tried press and turn a lot to get better connection in the far down position and guess what yes it does work a bit better. Today I have been able to press and get to both bass, treble and midrange...these has never been visible before...?
Strange though that I have these bad connection ***** on both power and bass/treble ***** and no one else with a C6 has experienced it before ?
