A few weeks ago I traded in my 07 coupe for a 2011 coupe. I love the newer car and the ls-3 is awsome except for one thing, rough idle on start-up when cold. Is this normal? Compared to my 07s ls-2 this thing feels like it has a plug wire loose or something,(I checked them). All is good after warm-up and I don't want to make a trip to the dealer if this is normal.
Normal. My Z06 has a nice "cam lope" when the engine is started cold. Lasts for a minute or two, then smooth as silk 600 RPM. I don't feel it, I just hear it.
Thanks for all the info folks! I can now enjoy my car even more knowing she's perfectly normal. I have noticed the inside of the exhaust tips stay cleaner longer with the new car so the timing for cats warm-up thing must be right on.

If you have the A6 tranny, many/most of the cars also have a slight shudder or vibration for a second or two, when you ease off the gas about 60 mph. This is also "normal", and it sounds great if you have the NPP open.
My 2008 M6 always has a "cold" lope at idle for a few seconds rolling out of the shop. By the time I'm down the street at the stop sign it's running smoothly. It reminds me of my 5.0 Mustangs of ~1990--which always had a burble at idle.
Because on a cold start up your computer is in open loop mode until it reaches target temps/values, then it goes into closed loop mode using primarily the o2 sensors to adjust fuel delivery and timing for minimum emissions, optimum gas mileage and power.
