Cutouts aren't as loud as Borlas. If you get headers, and particularly a cam, those Borlas will drive you nuts. They are so loud all the time.

When I put on headers I went back to stock mufflers and QTP cutouts. I love it. Loud when I want it, quiet when I don't. Cutouts don't add much power until you get close to 500 rwhp.

Here is my thread with pics and videos.

How do you figure that cutouts aren't as loud as a muffled exhaust?

Stock with stingers my car was not that loud.

I speak from experience. I had stingers on my c5 and had to get rid of them when I got a cam.

Cutouts open are not as loud as Borlas, because the sound is dumped down at the ground. It rumbles and it's deep.

Stock with stingers is ok. Headers with stingers is difficult for daily driving, and a cam with headers and stingers sounds like a race car. Fun at the track or car show...lousy at every stop light with everyone looking at you like your mufflers fell off.

I'll agree with that. I blew one of my Corsa Sports off at the track. It was easier just to pull them both completely off due to limited tools and time. Plus I thought they might just blow off again. I was surprised, but there wasn't a whole lot of difference in the WOT noise levels. Probably only slightly louder with way more resonance tooling around the pits.

Hmm...yeah I could see the turn downs being quieter making sense since they'd be back towards the rear of the car.

Headers come with a mid pipe so if you are going to get headers don't get a mid pipe or cutouts first.

Cutouts will add a deep bass tone to your stingers. Listen to my video in my link above.

You are missing my point. When you install cutouts in the stock midpipe, you will end up doing the work again when you put on headers as headers come with new midpipes.

I would not encourage cutouts with borla stingers. The stingers are already so loud that you won't really notice them. Get your headers first and see if you still like your borla stingers.

How old is your wife?

My wife (44) says...nice. You made another car sound like your high school car.

That's why I LOVE the cutouts with stock mufflers. Loud when I want, and a normal car for my daily drive.

If you like a loud, deep tone it's the perfect setup for you.

Ah, I LOVE a choppy lope through the right exhaust.

A big cam will be going in mine within the next month or so.

Ha ha, i've heard your clips before. Nasty, for sure, but not quite what I'm looking for.

The sound through cutouts just isn't quite the deep sound through borla mufflers that I'm looking for.
