After my next tune i should be between 490-500 rwhp with ported 243's. I have Spin's 230/234 cam, cometic gaskets (11.4 CR), ported FAST 102, UD pulley, LG street series headers, borla touring exhaust.

I put down 476 on a Dynojet and 460 on a Mustang without the FAST (had a ported LS2 stock intake). Guys running a more aggressive cam and LG Pro's would easily be 10+ rwhp above me. So yes, the ported 243 casting can be a good budget build and still make good power.

I think I paid about $1200 for fully CNC'd 243's with springs. These were inspected, cleaned, new valve job, new springs, seat pressure QC'd and my cam was cam doctored to verify accuracy for free. Call Phil at Advanced Induction for more details. I think just the port work was about $1000.

Basic H/C setup with supporting mods..... mild cam(under .600 lift), 1 3/4 headers, C6Z mufflers, VR, Fast 90 ported, etc.

I make 450-457rwtq on a Dynojet SAE.

Since you already have a set of 243's and are on a budget of under $1000, box em up and send them to WCCH. They will take good care of you and do some very nice work.

450 to 460 is far from putting down 500

If you're on a budget, watch the classifieds on this site and LS1tech. If in a hair on fire hurry, chances are less that you'll find a deal. A little patience can save you a bunch of $. You might even post a "want to buy" ad. I did and found a set of low mile Livernois stage 2 CNC'd 243's for about $800 shipped. Already had good valve springs too. I had them checked by my machine shop and bolted them on. You can sell your stock 243's with upgraded v'springs easily for +-$500. That's not too hard on the budget.

That's some impressive torque coming out of a 6.0 L engine with ported stock castings. I'm at 430 rwtq right now and hoping for 450ish withthe Ported FAST. I will know in a couple weeks.

I'm wondering if I should buy a set of these or if I'd be better off getting my 243's worked?

Like Dennis and Taken already said that is my tq. I put down 501-510rwhp consistently. Everyone knows we don't go anytime of the year and lay down exact numbers each time so that's why I shared a "window" of power. Summer to winter I fall right in between those numbers everytime.

The ported FAST was by far my best mid-range mod. And since your peak tq is found within the mid-RPM band I don't see you having an issue getting up to where I am with a H/C build.

What are LSA Heads??

Feel more than happy to send links, post you dyno sheets anything to give me a better ideal of what power your heads made.
I would ask whoever custom ground your cam what heads or flow rate is necessary to get optimal power for that cam.

Save whatever money is necessary to get the results you want the 1st time around.

Check our website or give us a call. I believe we have some of the best CNC heads available and the pricing is reasonable.
