First remark, I would like to thank everyone for responding to my last post. Thank you. Does anyone have any info. on a fuel pump booster. I understand it inproves performance for Superchargers and turbos. I also would like to know who makes the better ones, and who offers them.
How long - at a time - can the factory fuel pump reliably handle the voltage boost? Is this a short interal - i.e. 1 minute - or can it run for several minutes? Or more?
I'm assuming the added voltage adds stress, heat etc to the stock pump. Just curious if anybody knows how much of it the pump can handle at any given time.
In my case, the fuel pump has easily outlived the boost-a-pump. I have a KB bap installed. Having a twin turbo set-up, the bap only increases voltage to the fuel pump when the engine is making boost. I originally had a magnavolt bap but it took a crap after a couple years.
Don't let that bundle of snakes fool you. There are only a few connections to make. Up front the round lug goes on the back side of the alternator on the terminal, at the rear you unplug the fuel pump chassis harness to fuel pump connector in the driver's side rear wheel well and the Racetronix harness plugs right in. You attach the relay to the chassis and ground it and then you install the provided connectors on your BAP and it plugs right in.
The harness has to be run from the engine compartment to the driver's side rear wheel well. Most I have seen just run it through the rocker. If I have the car all apart I prefer to run it above the tunnel plate ziptied to the fuel line but going that direction is much more involved than through the rocker.
Much easier then cutting into wires like you would have to do without it.
+ the benefit of a dedicated fused 10 gauge wire circuit right off the alternator directly to the pump. The existing chassis harness now only serves as the signal to switch the power relay on/off. Mucho bettero!
That harness is only about $60.00
I have a used one in good shape if someone wants it. $25.00 plus the ride...minus the zip ties.
