Default TPS help

I took my 07 to discount tire to get them ballanced. By the end of that day my right rear TSP was reading 0 and the warning was showing on the dash. today i take my car into the dealership and he says yes the right rear TSP is bad, he replaces it. After the repair the RR is reading 0 the LR is blank, the RF is reading 0 and the LF is reading 32. The dealer is telling me all 4 are TSP are bad and need to be replaced. I do not understand how 3 TSPs (both front and left rear) are working when i take the car in to get the right rear repaired and now all 4 are bad. Any ideas???? OH and while it was in they said the battery was bad so they replaced that today

I'd ask them to try resynching the sensors before replacing them. Takes less than 5 minutes to do. If they won't resynch then maybe they need service

Everyone else loves Discount Tires, but the two DT stores I went to originally were staffed with complete morons. Found another one same distance away in a different direction and they are really sharp.

So, DT could have ruined all of your sensors. But that would normally be evident when you look at one removed from the wheel.

But if either store (DT and dealer) doesn't know how to program the sensor system, that could possibly be the problem.

The chances of all 4 sensors going bad by themselves at the same time on a 4 year old car, are pretty close to zero.

If DT was reprogramming someone else's car who had the same frequency as your's while you were there, it could easily have de-programmed yours. Some programming tools scan for signals and the tech may not realize he's caused a problem for a different car.

I recently rolled one set of tires with sensors about 10 feet away from my car that had no sensors and the DIC was activated. Depending on the tire and sensor, the signal can be pretty strong or very weak.

I'd be taking the "bad?" sensor and the old battery and leaving the dealer. Go back to DT and explain what happened. I'm sure they'll fix the problem, but I doubt they'll reimburse you for the "new" one. Have the old sensor and battery checked and if they're good, go back to the dealer and talk to the manager. Don't let them take advantage of you.

The sensor batteries are rated for a 10 year average life. Consider that would also be around 120K miles, as the sensors send signals often while moving, but sleep after stopping.

I don't think the morons at the dealer know how to work their battery tester. I had the same battery tested at pep boys on the same day with the same type of machine as the dealer and got two different results. PB said the battery was fine. The dealer never got back to me when I brought the PB print out to them.

Are there any competent chevy dealers in the bay area? Courtesy Chev is useless.
