I am worried...I noticed some oil in my garage...Cleaned it up and let it sit for a little while and still over the next day or two w/no driving I see the small puddle again...
Now Its been 3k since my last oil change..I have 7k in miles already. So I dont think my filter was loose but...I just dropped her off and I am hoping its something small...I will be extremely upset if shes leaking at this point..
I am also nervous because I do have an AXEL back exhaust..and I know they can void my warranty if they want to ...I would hope for an axel back they wouldnt...any thoughts on that ?
They can not void your warranty for an axle back exhuast.
Again any vehicle regardless of price can have defects in materials or workmanship. I once bought a new vehicle that dropped a lifter 2 miles from the dealership. That is why warranties exist.
Have a glass of wine when you get home and relax. They can't void your warranty over a pair of mufflers, PERIOD. Both dealerships in my area will install them. Also, the term axle back is too complicated for some, use muffler instead.
100% agree with the previous two postings, except I recommend at least two or three glasses of wine, the dealer cannot legitimately void your warranty, if for no other reason than your cat back has absolutely nothing to do with your problem.
if you look at gearhead jim's thread in Gen., he's had the dealer put in a dye to trace where the leak is coming from. unfortunately, many C6 engines have leaked, one way or another. and it happens in several different areas, porous pan, main seal, etc.
don't worry about it since it's a relatively known fact. as said above, however, the question is does your dealer have a good tech? if so, he/she can do a pan replacement in under four hours even tho the book calls for longer. mine was under four hours.
be calm and know that an axle-back muffler system will not "void" your engine and drivetrain warranty. it won't even cause the dealer to deny a claim such as the one you may be making to have the repair completed under warranty.
I'm the guy with dye in his engine.
Unfortunately, oil leaks on the C6 are rather common. But they are fixable, just find a tech who has done it before.
A few weeks after you get it properly fixed, you'll be enjoying it again.
