I'm currently Vette-less, but a co-worker has a 2008 and was telling me today at lunch that she hears a weird noise when making tight, slow-speed turns. She took me for a drive and I heard it: Sounds like the very same chatter I used to hear from the differential in my old '01 Coupe. I remember that I got an additive from the dealer, crawled under the back-end of the car and poured it into the drain plug. No more chatter.
Do you think it's the same thing on my friend's C6? I got down and looked for the drain plug, but an aluminum crossmember was in the way and I couldn't see it. If this is the same problem I had years ago, with the same fix, how hard is it to get at the drain plug?
As usual, Rick is correct.
Be sure to note the part about not needing any additional additive.
Just pour in the new stuff and go do a few figure-8's in the parking lot.
I had the same issue and after researching all the great info here, I just finished changing my differential fluid with Royal Pruple Extreme Gear 75W90. It was easy and worked like a charm..

If it's an 08, it should be covered under 5 YR/100K powertrain warranty. I would have her check with the dealer first.
The new fluid DEXRON LS didn't become factory fill in corvettes until MY2009. Meaning 2008 and older vettes are very susceptive to diff clutch chatter. An alternate to the DEXRON LS is AMSOIL Severe Gear 75W90 which I have used in three separate model year vettes (06, 07,08) with total success stopping this chatter.

I just had it done on my '08 yesterday. I had 3 days left on the 36 month bumper to bumper. Service adviser told me that it would be covered if I did it before the expiration and not after that. I told him that I recently purchased the GMPP Gold, and he said it still wouldn't be covered and would be like an engine oil change.
It really made a huge difference as it's nice and quiet now.
I also had this issue on my 08 and finally had it looked at right before the 36K mark came up. Dealer installed new fluid and did a couple of figure-eights to mix it and good as new; all under warranty.
