I just got finished installing a set of LG Pro Series headers with mid pipe to my stock exhaust. Went pretty smooth, however after tightening up all the clamps, starting the engine, and inspecting the fitment. I noticed there are a lot of leaks around the connections. What gives? I took my time on this, made sure each clamp was covering the slits. Are these known for leaking some or is there something I am missing here? HIGH temp Sealer? Please help
Tighten the s*it outta them clamps they can take it. Then you should be fine. It will always sound like you have an exhaust leak with the headers cause they are thin walled compared to the stock manifolds which cover up the sound very well. As long as you dont feel any leaks you are good to go.
Yes, the LGs are known to leak around the slip fit connections, but you should be able to really crank down on the clamps to try and minimize it or eliminate it all together.
I figured I could crank them down a bit more however, when I received my order it was missing the 2.5" clamps for the stock exhaust and also the Cats. So... for now I just used the old clamps, which work "OK" for now. My concern is that I will clamp too hard on the section where the Cats will go eventually and I wont be able to get them off for the swap. Thoughts?
Mine leak a little, and I have a lift and good impact that I zapped the clamps with. Lg made it sound like they'd never heard of this issue before. Seems to be pretty common.
