Default Good midpipe for B&B Bullets

I currently have the Magnaflow Dual pipe exhaust with a Corsa Touring midpipe and stock headers. The system is relatively quiet at idle and low rpm so i ordered B&B Bullets that came in today.

My issue is that im afraid the Corsa Touring midpipe will cancel out the nice tone from the Bullets, so i had spoken to a shop that only uses Magnaflow Tru-x midpipes and would install both for $200.

Would it be best to get the Bullets installed and keep the Touring mid as it will not restrain the sound that much?

Do i replace the Touring with the cheapo Tru-x as that is a good product?

Or should i consider throwing down the $400 for a nice x-pipe and wait a week for it to come in and have the system installed?

Let me know, as i plan on getting the exhaust installed asap.

If you were local, I would let you try an H-pipe which doesn't sound to far off from the X-pipe for free. I have bullets and installed a Corsa X-pipe which quited some of the resonance but at 2K it is a little much for most people. ( They sound awesome though.) I would suggest trying it with an H or an X to see what you think and then try the corsa midpipe if drone is a concern. This should give you a good idea of which way to go.

Jacking the car up takes me longer then it does to change the mid pipe. If you are capable I would just do it yourself.

What about the Bullets themselves? Do you think I could remove the Magnaflows and install the new exhaust myself ?

There are carlift bays on base, so getting it in the air is no problem. As far as tools, all you need is sockets for the clamps to connect the exhaust to itself, then sockets to remove the rear axle brace to get the pipes over the axle, right?

If the Bullet install is pretty DIY i wont hesitate to install it myself and order a different midpipe if i dont like the bullet/touring combo.

The exhaust is easy to swap out, ( Bullets are easier than stock because of the size) if you need the torques values let me know. Take it to the hobby shop and save your self some money. I've done mine several times using just jack stands, so on a lift it will be a little easier.

Have fun!

Sure, ill take those values, im sure the hobby shop should have a torque wrench i can rent.

Ill probably install friday evening or saturday then, so ill let you know how it goes.

gotta make sure i get plenty of before and after. I complain that i can never find good info on installs and exhaust setups like this, so it would be hypocritical not to post the info for others, lol.

thanks

One brand of x-pipe won't have much effect on the sound versus another unless there are resonators in that Corsa X-pipe.

I was thinking that the touring system had a resonator in the mid pipe. I thought that was the difference from that and the sports. I could be wrong, I am going by what I have read on the forum. I doidn't actually go on corsa's website to verify.

The touring midoipe does contain resonators. Instead of restrictive ones, they are straight thru with small holes drilled through the pipe to tune down the sound.

So, it all comes down to how the exhaust sounds with the combo. I'm planning on installing tomorrow evening, so we will see. Either way, ill have to wait a week to change the exhaust again so ill have plenty of time to get feedback.

Wish me luck
