Using Z06 cables to move battery to trunk
I did a search and found how to move the battery to the trunk using universal cables, but not with using Z06 cables.
Has anyone done this and if so, what is the routing of the positive cable to the starter?
Thanks!

i suggest searching as much as you can before tackling the project. gene culley has sold several kits to convert to rear battery using factory parts so it has been done...
comp nine has alot of diagrams so do gm parts house and parts taxi. you should download and print as many as possible.

I did that and it shows the cables and misc parts, but not were they run.
Maybe it would be best if I just put a Z06 on a lift and followed the cable......

ya, its easier to just buy the painless battery relocation kit and drill two holes in the rear cubby and run the wires through the rocker panel.
z06 positive cable runs inside the car, along the passenger side, then through the firewall..

I just did this using all the OEM Z06 parts as well, and while it did take some time, it was painless as far as the level of difficulty once I got in there and started working on it. Also, the power wire coming from the battery goes to the fuse box under the hood. The Z06 has a seperate harness that runs from the fuse box to the starter, along with a ground from the block to the frame. I was able to unbolt the starter and ground wires from the topside threw my headers once I pulled the plugs without too much fuss. From the back to the firewall is simply unbolting the passenger seat and pulling up carpet.

When I get home I will send you some pics of exactly where the power wire runs through the firewall on the Z06. I went and looked at a friend of mine's Vette and then put mine in that exact location. If you put it there it all falls together easily.

Here is where the power wire needs to be run through the firewall. You will see once the foot-well is lay'd back, the ECM/PCM is unplugged and removed, exactly where the wire will lay in under the rack, and feed through the firewall. Once I had made my mark from the inside. I used a small 1/32 bit to verify the hole was exactly centered first, and drilled from the inside out. Then I drilled the final hole out with a 1 1/2" hole saw from under the hood into the cabin. The factory grommet fits perfectly and the wires are layed out in their proper position.

so after getting into the cabin, is the cable just run under the interior plastic side sills?

Yes. I found it easier to start with the cables in the rear first while working them forward. Also, it only takes 15 min. or less to pull the passenger side seat and pull up the carpet on that side. Then you can route the wire along the edge, and lay the carpet back down.
