The ideal cooler for me would be a stacked plate about 3.5" x 21.5" that would fit parallel to the ground in the space behind the lower bumper cover and in front of the air dam. The left half as an oil cooler and the right half for the transmission. That way it'd be a vertical airflow and the cooler wouldn't block the horizontal flow coming in the front. The stacked plate construction would be hardy enough to deal with debris.

I currently have a B&M 70273 mounted in that fashion. It only has about 3.5" exposed, yet still hasn't reached 200 degrees in heavy Phoenix traffic during 110+ ambient temps. I have a 3600 stall torque converter and bypassed the radiator cooler. My oil temps have been reaching 230-240 and I'd prefer to keep them closer to 200. I have the F55 suspension, so no Z51 stock oil cooler, but it doesn't require rocket science to hook up oil lines.

This would be a great addition for FI cars [z51 or not] because the inter-cooler restricts some of the additional air flow to the rad through the mouth of the front bumper.

Here's a picture of the underneath of my car [excuse the clarity of the picture]; you can see that there could be potential to place a cooler between the rad [Dewitts] and the air dam. If this cooler could be made to be placed either horizontal or parallel to the ground. The positioning would be dependent on what type of set-up you have NA or FI. The height of the cooler should be no more than 3.5 inches, and should be able to be placed partly on the air damn horizontally. As well, maybe optional stronger fans could be developed for the dual rad set-up if your car has an FI set-up... Just my 3 cents

I have an 08 LS3 Z51 with the STS rear mount turbos, full bolt ons, built motor and auto trans. the oil in the car bakes during street driving and when stoped in traffic for more than 15 min. this has become a huge issue for the car as I am seeing temps around 270+

let me know if there is something you would like to work out with an oil cooler, This would be a good car for you guys to use because it is a street car with 600-850 HP. we could do a comparo on the temps to see a drastic drop (hopefully)

PS: Im wearing the dewitts radiator and its still rocking =]

I need an oil cooler, did this ever go into production? this post is 5 years old so they've had plenty time.

how about a rear mounted? right where they put a "exhaust filler plate" run the hoses right thru the tunnel, I had all the parts to do it, and then I got a DeWitts rad with it built in

I have a twin turbo C6 running a 440CI RHS motor making 1200 at the wheels, heat if definately a problem.

Im using Aeroquip quick connects so the bumper remains removable.
For me this is superior to loosing my foglights and there is more exposed surface area for the coolers

Only difference from the pics is I used a Lingenfelter adapter as oppose to a remote oil filter due to space constraints

I sealed up the gaps around the radiator

Previously on an 80* day car would reach 220 oil highway, 240 after a WOT pull in 3rd and take 30 minutes to come down. Oil PSI dropping to 5.

Coolant stayed 190 to 220 based on speed

With my cooler I see 170 coolant and 175 oil at 60mph, oil tempspikes to 215 after WOT and is back to 175 in 10 minutes. Oil PSI stays in the 20s

Default Engine and trannie coolers...

Hey sinister that sure is a clever solution you came up with

I guess we find a solution when we have to I was happy to give up my fog lamps they are too low imo to be that effective plus the head lamps are good enough for me so yah...

Drivers side oil cooler pass trannie I have sense added two 8" fans to aid cooling in slow traffic with a temp controller turns the fans on @ 160 degrees.

Looks good! Only draw back to mine is no option for a fan (3in computer fans pull pitiful CFM) but I was in 10 minutes of traffic and didnt see oil temps over 200 and they declined as soon as I moved

If you are not running high compression like me there shouldn't be a problem with your oil temps in heavy traffic slow downs your needs come under boost while there's plenty air supply lol.
