2005 Belt Squeal
Another belt squeal story...
I have a 2005 with the most annoying belt squeal occurring at hard acceleration when the auto trans shifts form 1st to 2nd. Had it to the dealer who replaced the harmonic balancer w/the "new" re-engineered version, replaced the tensioner, the power steering bracket and replaced the drive belt. Still sqeals, the dealer said they called GM tech line and was basically told there was nothing more they could do. Any ideas?

Wire brush and use contact cleaner on all the pulley guides.
Would be great if you could listen for exactly which one is squeaking.
Antifreeze residue is notorious for inducing a squeak.
P.S. = Nice comment by GM Techline (or dealer interpretation) comment. Yes, one could replace every single pulley and the belt all at one time or until squeak is gone.
