Default Place in Park

Half the time I park my 07 Vet the DIC shows Place in Park. The car is in park. Sometimes I can move the shifter an or start and stop again and it goes out. Yesterday and today it won'g go out. The doors won't lock etc. Any words of wisdom?? Thanks.

It sounds like the switch, or linkage that activates the switch; to tell the car it's in Park, is defective.

But you probably figured that out already.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to check or adjust the system.

Let us know what you discover!

Default Shift to Park

I took the vet into the shop and they had it for 2 days and could not find anything wrong. There are no switches on the linkage. It's all electronic. The body module said it was in park. The transmission module said it was in park. The shifter was in park. The DTC display said Shift to Park. Thoght process was the body control module may be bad.
When I left the shop everything worked fine. This happened after leaving the battery disconnected over night (I think this zeros out the modules). When I picked up the car everything worked fine and the mechanic said he didn't know what was wrong or how everything was working correctly now. Great.
Two days later I tried to leave work and the Shift to Park indication was back. Push the start button and the dash lights goes black!! About 15 seconds later I get the dash lights, nav system and air con back!!! No engine turn over, no clicking no nothing. Disconnected the battery for several hours and still nothing. Called the tow truck to take it to the dealer.
Once at the dealer I showed the problem to the service writer and he said they have never seen this before. Left the battery cable off (the dash lights etc won't go out) so the battery won't go dead. The next day the mechanic hooked up the battery and the vet started like it should. Drove it around and several times put it into park and took it out of park and no problems. They left it hooked up and Monday they will drive it a few times and park it to see if they can duplicate the problem. That is where we are now.
