I've a new LS3 crate motor, told a 2012 part number. Odd thing is the driver's side head only has 4 bolts for the header. I cannot get anyone from GMPP to reply to an email or deny/confirm rumor that it is due to added drainback capacity?
Anyone know why only 4? Anyone know where to find tech/service manual?
Thanks.

Sorry, should have been more clear. The driver's side head doesn't have a bolt hole between the front two exhaust outlets. I have long tube headers vs. stock exhaust manifolds. This my first LS motor, and know so little about it.
The head is missing a threaded hole in between the front two exhaust ports.
Not sure if this makes it clearer.

My long tube header has 5 holes, but there are only 4 holes on the head that can be used. It just seems odd there is no hole between the front ports.
As for oil drainback, I can now see that the oil drainback is on the top inner side. So, it must just be a manufacturing flaw.
Do you know where I can find a tech manual? The crate motor and controller kits only contained enough to get it started and running. This is really the first pushrod motor I've worked with.
It's still not clear what you are talking about. There are other threaded holes in the area that are used for such things as dip stick bracket etc. (or are simply unused) that aren't used for holding the exhaust manifold/headers. Posting a picture of what you are talking about would help a lot.

I'm still confused. C6 LS2, LS3 and C6 Z06 all use the same 6 bolt holes for exhaust manifolds, same holes, same size, same location. By your "diagram" it would be like this;
.0.0..0.0.
What holes are your headers missing?
Unless we have a terminology problem and you are talking about HEAD bolts that go thru the heads into the block to attach the heads to the block.
