Yes, it will fit your LS2 just fine. I use this oil filter in my 2007 LS2.
Too bad my dealer doesn't keep stock of this filter but I do.

Randy: You can get them from Gene Culley at GMPartsWarehouse for about $10 each.

Is it just the color you're going for? Or does this filter do a better job? Or higher capacity? Or... ?

It has a much better micron filtering capacity without restricting the oil flow. I believe it standard on the late model Z06's and the ZR1's.

It also has a higher pressure rating.

I bought 2 of these last year from summit racing, I think they were like $26.00 with shipping. Best price I found!

The LS2 requires the UPF44 and not the UPF48R. I will double check my memory, but I'm pretty certain I am correct.

I think you are correct...the UPF44 is shorter than the UPF48..
I "think" the 48 will hang down a lot lower than the oil pan...the 44 is shorter and will be about even with the bottom of the oil pan...
Please correct me or if I'm right let me know so I'll be sure to order the correct oil filter next time...

I think the 48R is only required on the dry sump engines because of the higher oil pressure! I have a GS with the dry sump

The 2005 & 2006 LS2 takes the PF44/PF46/UPF44 filter and the 2007 LS2 takes the PF48/UPF48R filter. The two are not interchangeable. Besides having two differerent mounting thread size and pitch, the PF44/PF46/UPF44 does not have a bypass valve. The PF48/UPF48R has a bypass valve installed as the engine does not have the bypass valve included.

Did you read my post #13 above? You posted that you have a 2007 LS2. The 2007 LS2 uses a different filter then the 2005 LS2 and the 2006 LS2.

Incorrect. It has the exact same internals, just rated for higher pressures.
"TIP: The internal components are the same in both the UPF48R and PF48 oil filters. The UPF48R can be used in applications where the PF48 is specified."

Correct, my 07 LS2 takes the PF48 Oil Filter. It's in the Manual.

Not entirely correct Gene. GM changed the 2007 LS2 to the 48 series. So only the 05 and 06 LS2s take the 44/46 series.

I have used both the PF48 and UPF48R on my vert 07 LS2 as well.
