The screw apparently takes a tamper-proof, 5 lobed torx bit. Anyone know where I can get one? It's beyond me why these idiots come up with something like this and then sell a tool to take them out! I've tried a couple of places with no luck. Haven't been able to catch the MATCO or SnapOn guy yet. I figure they probably have it. Anyone find one yet?
These are very hard to get locally. Ebay or online store would be your best bet....
IF you only need to remove the screws, I was able to do so with just needle nose pliers. They are not that tight, and will come off pretty easily.
Needle nose vise grips would be pretty good also, and then just replace those POS screws with regular torx, or whatever is provided with the intake you are swapping to

Tamper-resistant or security Torx PLUS is the search term you'll need.
The correct size torx bit is a T-20. You should be able to pick one up at any parts store, sears, lowes and so on. Looks just like a screw driver except has the torx end. These have been around for years, i have had a set sense 1984 to remove the plastic facings around headlights on 84 model gmc truck. use them all the time to adjust headlights on all late model cars and trucks.

99% of the torx screws in use are of the 6 lobe design. The screws in question have a 5 lobe design and not all year C6's have the 5 lobe. Just because someone posts that their C6 uses a 6 lobe torx screw, does not mean that all C6's use a 6 lobe torx screw.

Sooooo true! I found out mine was one of the 5 lober's, after I had taken it apart, and I almost wound up ordering a bit online, after looking everywhere locally.....
But thankfully my fellow bro's here suggested trying needle nose pliers, and they worked like a charm.
OP,
I would save the $$$ and not bother with the bits, for this one time use. Unless there are other's lurking within the car???

I need the tool for more than one use, so I'd like to get the right one.
Thanks.
