NAV. Screen, Navigation and Audio
Hello all,
I have a 2008 C6 with the Navigation - CD/DVD/Radio set (original from Corvette with the screen) installed in my car.
Lately, there's something weird going on with my screen and audio. While I'm driving the screen comes and goes and the Corvette sign appears on the screen as its reseting itself. When the screen is back, all my configuration is back to factory settings (color scheme, timezone etc ...)
In parallel, it can't recognize Navigation DVDs and MP3 cds anymore ...
Has anyone faced similar problems ? If so, how did you fix it ?
Seems to me that replacing the kit is the easy choice but don't really know how much that would cost. So let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Serdar

Likely the unit is going bad and needs to be replaced. You might want to ask in the Audio Forum for opinions from the experts in there.
If you decide to replace, and you want to retain a stock unit, you can save a lot of money by taking some time to shop the Parts Section here and the auction site for take out units from people upgrading. Expect to pay around $500+ for a used unit. New from a dealer will likely be over $2000.
Of course, in many opinions, the best course would be to upgrade to an after market unit like Kenwood or Pioneer. You get a lot more for less money. If you decide that sounds interesting contact c5 Bears Fan for great deals and customer service. Here's his latest thread:

The only way to reboot it is to disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes. I can tell you how to force it to reset itself in another way from internal diagnostics built into it, but I can't tell you what will happen as a result. You could end up needing a trip to the dealer to repair it following this other method.

I will surely contact c5 Bears for advise on the best unit to go with.
Just wondering if this is something common that happens to most ??

Actually, the removing power to it does force it to reboot and this can solve more problems than most think. If you were to buy a new factory NAV for it, this would require a trip to the dealer anyway to have the VIN programmed into it, otherwise the new one will not work.

To answer your question, as best I can, no it isn't common but it does happen.....and usually means a new unit is needed. Good luck.
