My 2008 A-6 is slipping 3rd gear. At mid throttle the trans shifts to 3rd, revs high, then seems to pass to 4th, or it hunts for awhile. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks
My 2011 GS is in the shop today for this exact situation. The tech called me after 4 hours and said he could not find it (of course). THen I explained it to him again, and he said that it "Sounds Normal to me." I thought: just get out of my car.
I will pick it up tomorrow and let you know what they said. I am going to ask him just to falsh the TCM with the newest software and see if that helps. If not, I am thinking hardware as opposed to software issue.
I hate to say this, but our 2006 A6 had 44k miles when we sold it, never did this. Our current 2009 A6 has 37k miles and also has never done it. So it's not "normal".
put it is N and give it some gas if the car tries to moves backwards a little you have burned out the 3-5-R pack. Call Century Trans and talk to Mike or PM Subfloor.
I got the car back. They told me they did not do anything because they could not replicate.
When I got into the car, the radio station presets were gone, so they obviously took off the battery cable, which is what I was going to do if they refused to flash the TCM.
Same thing couldn't replicate. So I went there and drove it for them. Got it to do it as soon as we left the lot.
They have pulled the trans and are saying that the clutches are burnt, AND that seals were installed wrong. Also blaming it on my converter. I put a Yank Racing 3600 rpm stall in the car a year ago. So we'll see what kind of service this brings. I'm considerring putting the stock converter back. More to come...There was a TSB on this somewhere, anyone have it handy?
My A6 has this same exact problem, it occurs roughly around 75ish mph. I've made maybe 14 passes at the track and have only gotten 3 clean passes without this happening. My car is s/c'd by ECS and tuned by ECS. I posted about my issue before and was told it's a tuning issue, just raise the shift mph and rev limiter slightly and it will fix the issue.
My question now is, is this occurring on stock cars or just modded cars where the car makes more power thus shifts at different mphs/rpms? ECS said my trans is showing signs of failure and "flairing" up. My next option is to build my trans at this point, but I don't want to spend a bunch of money and still not be able to run at the track. Thoughs?
