I just bought an 06 from a dealer. unfortunately thay are 250 miles away. Got a few issues. some seem very simple, but I am finding that some things on this car require some simple click of button.
1. My outside temp reads 75 degrees all the time. I talked to the previous owner and it worked before . There was a bra on it before and the dealer took it off. I think the senser is near the front bumper, just learning the car now. Is the sensor easy to get to?
2. Though there is a CD in the player it says no CD installed. Everything else on the stereo works. My guess, Could need cleaning. Any other possibilities?
The temp reading will update eventually. Mine was doing that this summer. It was reading in the 80's when it was well over 100º outside and it did eventually update and read correct.
I have the same problem with my CD player too. I need to load/unload the disc up to 5 or 6 times before it will load and play. I've seen others with the same thing going on. The only other solution would be to replace the whole thing and for me its not a big enough problem to do that.
75 is the default reading when there is a failure, usually by the sensor. If yours is reading 75 all the time then something is broken......or disconnected.
The outside air temperature sensor is located on the right hand side (passenger) of the vehicle, just in front of the radiator, under the fascia.
A quick test to see if the sensor is not working: there is a combination of buttons on the climate control you can push all at once which will instantly update the temp.. push the front defrost, rear defog, and fan up button simultaniously and the temp will update immediatly to the outside temp.. (assuming the sensor is working properly) I had the same problem after replacing the water pump and i bumped the temp sensor crawling around under the car.. after cleaning and re-connecting the sensor, works again.

This amlost sounds strange, but I had an 89' GMC that I found out if I did some magic button pushing, it transfered my standard stereo system to a premium system.
I could not see the senser, but see a connector on the "upper passenger side". Is this were it connects?

Steve
The connector on the upper passenger side is for the hood light. The Temp sensor is lower on the shroud.
That magic button pushing is right out of the 2006 shop manuals.. there is a chart that shows updating of the temp sensor.. IE if the car sits off for 3 hours, and started.. instant temp shown.. over 15 miles per hour for 3 minutes.. etc etc.. The sensor is on the lower passenger side right by the radiator.. the connector is near the drain plug for the radiator.
