Tried to remove my front driver side brake rotor today and it would not budge. Yes the caliper and bracket were already off. What am I missing. Hammer and block of wood were no help, do I need to just hit it harder? Anyone else experince this, nothing found in search.
Spray some PB Blaster around the hub and let sit for a minute and then smack the rotor on the back side. You may have to rotate the rotor and wack it a few times. You did take off the factory rotor retaining clips, right?
Cant remember if the rotors are attached to the front hubs with a screw. If so, make sure that's out. Otherwise, hit the hub section of rotor harder. Even with a 52 oz hammer at work, they can still put up a fight. GL!
Another way to break a brake rotor loose is to put the caliper back on and then install the wheel so there is a very slight amount of free play and then drive the car in circles in both directions. That can put a lot more force on the rust holding the rotor on than you can with a hammer.
as said, check the timmerman nuts holding the rotors on. There is one per wheel. A thin stamped wire lock on the stud. Used to hold the rotor on as car travels down the assembly line.
PB, Breaker Loose etc. Try the hammer on the rotor outside diameter. You need a real hammer sometimes. I have a five pound double jack for the tough ones. Be careful where you hit it though. You are just breaking a ring of rust. Later! Frank

Did mine recently and a few good whacks and they all came right off. Don't be afraid to use the hammer with a bit of a heavy hand.
