Default LS2 Boost discussion

I'm considering adding boost to my '05 Z51, my intention is to keep the motor stock (cam, heads, etc). I'm looking for 500-650 rwhp. I'm interested in the following kits: ECS, Vortech, ProCharger or STS. Anyone with either of these kits care to weigh in on fit, reliability, performance, seat of the pants, etc? I'd like something with the potential for growth if I do change the motor later on (why I like these better than a TVS blower for example), and is suitable for a daily driver (reliability, noise, etc).

Might want to also ask in the Forced Induction Forum.

You'll have a tough time getting there in an LS2 without a cam change as a minimum, in addition to the FI.

ECS just posted two dyno graphs of stock LS2s making 530+rwhp with their kit...plus I can always add boost.

It's do-able. Just up the boost. Probably not going to last a long time though.

A good TT set-up will get you there without a cam possibely. I'm not a fan of S&S though. Running oil lines etc all the way to the rear of the car is considering all the other options available.

What are you talking about? Mid 500's to upper 500's are easy a pie to get with just strapping a blower on. My LS2 A6 car makes an easy 522rwhp on a very safe tuned vortech without a cam or opening the engine at all. With a pulley swap and a splash of meth 600rwhp is easy to attain. Many other LS2 cars with manuals make close to 600rwhp w/o cams. Pulleyed making more.

OP, I got a t-trim vortech which allows for growth down the road. At some point I'll throw in a forged stroker and pulley the S/C. A centri kit allows for a ton of extra hp when you want to crank it up.
My car has been blown for over 2 years now. Drives exactly like a stock car until I decide to crank it up. It turns from a ***** cat to a pissed of leopard in a flash. do it.

Assume a 10% driveline loss minimum so the stock LS2 is 360 rwhp tops. You need 140 hp so yes, you can do it but not likely with an out of the box, as-delivered FI system. You'll have to play to make 500 - spot-on additional tuning, pulley down, headers, etc. So maybe I was about half asleep when I posted this morning!

My Avalanche has been blown for 7 years now. It's pushing 475-480 hp after camming (and self-tuning with HPT) it so I do know a little about FI.

600rwhp will be no problem as long as you do headers/x pipe and right pulley combo......If you come up a little short, just pulley it down some more.... no reason to hurt driveability and off boost power by sticking a cam in....just add a couple more psi of boost to get you there and drive like a stocker....

My stock LS6 did it with 10 psi at 6500. Bone stock, valve covers never off.....

Have you ever looked at the F/I section on this site? In years of reading & reserching my eventual purchase I have yet to see even one FI C6 Corvette come in with under 500rwhp. Stock pulley, stock cam, no headers and of course a tune. Many closer to 600 than they are 500.

heres just one currently in the first 5 posts of the F/I section.

P1sc (baby procharger) 9 psi + kooks in a A4 ls2 = 550 rwhp. Very streetable. If you go with a procharger I would suggest a D1 which would give more expandability down the road.
