So here is the question. How do I keep the NPP from opening once the rps exceed the 3500 rpm threshold ? Disconnect the vacuum lines ?

Because I want to see if I like the exhaust that way.

You might try running a piece of wire from the exhaust hanger to the npp actuator to hold them in the closed position. I would then unplug the vacuum lines so as you do not do any harm to the vacuum module. Sounds back woods but may accomplish what your trying to acheive.

Good luck.

Just kidding...

If you do decide that you like them better that way, I'd be happy to trade the stock exhaust off of my '08 for you NPP's!!!

Argggggg ......... That's the problem. The tips on the base look anemic. It's vacuum that keeps them closed which is why they are open on start up. Sure wish GM had set things up the other way.

Based on my vision of how you drive since you don't like the sound, wouldn't it just be easier to never go over 3,500 rpm?

You could also find yourself a cheap Borla Touring catback. VERY docile and has nice, large tips.

You could sell your NPP setup and pay for it, no problem.

Actually, I don't drive slow. Where I live in TX I can really get on it when I want to, needing only to watch for loose livestock and, feral hogs The issue is the sudden burst of noise when my s/o is with me and I go to pass on our two lane back roads. She won't say a word till that frigg'n exhaust opens up. I hate burned toast ........

Funny you mention that .................. I've been thinking along those lines. I had Borla's on the '07 and loved them.

The B & B's let you open or close at any rpm. That would drive me nuts having them opening or closing at a certain rpm.

Ben at SunsetOrangeCreations made me an exhaust commander that had a full closed mode. You might get in touch with him-- works well through a homelink button on my visor.

To answer the why questions, I live near a major city and it's sometimes nice not to have every officer within a 5 block radius hear it when the rpms get up there.
