Default New Nav

Hello all...

I am swapping my factory Nav for an aftermarket unit and was wondering if anyone out there knows if an aftermarket PIONEER AVIC-Z130BT MULTIMEDIA AV NAVIGATION RECEIVER would work in a C6 with Onstar?

Has anyone out there done this swap and if they ran into any problems?

Thanks.

I put one in my new 2011 Sierra HD but removed it and gave it to my daughter after I traded for a Sierra Denali HD. I originally hated it but after wading through pages of owners operating manual we're slowly getting the hang of it. My personal opinion is the factory unit is better.

What I am wondering is did it work with Onstar vehicles?

To rephrase, if you remove factory Nav would Onstar still be able to tell where you are if you activated Road side help?

Thanks.

Of course, On Star operates as usual.

Just wondering if you have done this swap and Onstar is still working.

Does Onstar have it's own GPS system or does it piggyback of your factory Nav to know your coordinates or location?

Thanks

I have no idea as I had it professionally installed. That being said I assume it's very evident OnStar and nav have different anttena locations and are in no way connected.

Not completely true. If you have both the stock Nav and OnStar then the microphone (A pillar) is routed first through the OnStar system (VCIM) and then through to the Nav/radio. That way the OnStar system can ****** the microphone as needed.

I was talking about the multiple antenna. I'm fully aware the same mic is used for bluetooth, nav and OnStar.
