Default Newbie questions

Hello guys,

Just bought a 08 Coupe 3LT, and have some questionsȘ

1. Since my car doesn't have HUD, that's the first thing i'd like to install. Is it plug and play? Beside the hud and the switch, do i need anything else?
2. Can i retrofit radio steering wheel controls?
3. My car also doesn't have NAV. If i buy an OEM navigation unit, will it be plug and play, or i need to modify the wiring?
4. As far as i read, only the 2010+ models have bluetooth functionality. Is it true?

Help appreciated!

Many thanks.

I can slightly help you with #4:
Our 2009 3LT package has Bluetooth. Not sure about 2008, or if it can be added.

If you have a 3LT you should already have the HUD and steering wheel controls for the radio. You must have 2LT.

1. If your car has the 3LT option package, it has the HUD. Look at the HUD controls on the extreme left side of the dash. Also, look at pages 3-20 to 3-24 of the 2008 owner's manualto read the info. about the HUD.
4. 2009 and later C6s have the bluetooth functionality.

Look at the RPO codes on the sticker on the inside (left side) of the glove box for 1LT, 2LT or 3LT to see which option package you have. Those codes will be in alphabetical order, meaning the codes that begin with a number will be last.

factory nav isnt very good and the unit is super$$$$ better off going with a aftermarket unit like a pioneer, kenwood, alpine etc. honestly my car has hud its always on and 90% of the time i forget its there i look at the actual gauges. plus without hud windsheild dosnt work the greatest.

Thank you guys.

I do have the 3LT, but unfortunately, without the HUD and Steering wheel controls.
The HUD spot is covered with a plastic cap, and the left side controls, also aren't there.
Plus i don't have the heated seats either.

I mean my papers say 2008 and engine type 3LT, 6200 cm3, and 430 BHP.
How else can i tell if it is 2LT or 3LT?

Regards,
Bogdan

Sorry,

I was making a confusion.
I was confusing the engine type with the option package.

So probably i have 2LT. The engine was LS3 :-)

Told you, newbie.....

So for the 2LT, are those installs i want, plug and play? Or i must modify some wiring?

Thanks.

And I am the opposite. I'm now so used to reading the speedo in the HUD that when I drive another car it feels totally unsafe taking my eyes off the road to look down at the gauges. I *love* the HUD.

I think I know what you mean here, but...

To OP, the best HUD display requires that the windshield be treated to maximize the readability. I've never seen a HUD setup without the proper windshield so I can't comment on how much difference it makes. On the other hand, quite a few people have added the HUD units to cars that didn't have them originally so it shouldn't be difficult to find folks who can give you first hand info.

Here's a current good deal from a respected Forum vendor. If nothing else the ad will give you a good idea what's required:

And here's a thread that should tell you everything you need to know about adding the radio controls (yikes!)

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-controls.html

As for adding the factory NAV, you'll probably find it to be way too expensive as well as a pain in the rear. It works OK but it's not worth the money that GM wants (not counting all the stuff like the GPS system components.)

Keeping in mind that the OP does not live in North America, that may cause the "best" nav system for him to be something different than what is best for the rest of us.

Well, i see that if i don't have the Bose option, (which i DON'T), installing the factory nav unit is a pain.

If going to after-market unit, where would i get a sort of adapter trim, for it to fit in the place of the factory stereo?
Besides that, do i have to replace some speaker/amp, or it will work with the factory ones?

Thanks.

Oh, and if i don't want to use the factory nav unit (the actual navigation function i mean), and just want to put it there, in order for the interior to look nicer, will it work plug and play?
