Default C6 engine noise

Hello I know this is my first post. I have used the search function and found some info on what I am going to ask so please do not hammer me too much if this has been covered many times before.

First of all I have owned 6 corvettes and 1 Dodge Viper. I love Vettes and plan on having one the rest of my life.

I have a 2007 C6 Corvette 6.0 LS2 engine with a 6 speed manual transmission. I have 110K on the car and I drive it about 90 miles a day.

Recently I had a clutch put in it by a corvette performance shop in California and they did a great job. Now I have two problems which started about 2 weeks after the clutch was put in.

1) I got an engine light code which said the right bank catalytic converter is working below threshold efficency.

2) I have a sound which sounds like a slight exhaust leak or lifter noise. It kinda sounds like a sewing machine and the noise changes with engine being under pressure. It kinda had this noise just a little bit before the clutch job but it has gotten worse over time but not real loud yet.

I had a shop check for an exhaust leak but no one could find one. I am more worried about the slight tapping noise as I drive the car alot. Any ideas. Can the valves be adjusted on a LS2???

Thanks for input on this.

Sounds are hard to diagnose this way, but here's an easy test to rule out one possibility: fire up the car and look at the spark plugs. If one of them is wiggling, it's loose.

The LS series engines tend to be noisy... injectors firing make a ticking sound and also the cam/rockers system is not the quietest on the block.

You need to pull the codes. I'm thinking one of the O2 sensors isn't working or possibly they reversed the wires. Its a common issue on the C-5's for them to get reversed and I truly don't know if its possible to reverse them on a C-6 or not. Since the DIC won't pull codes like the C-5, you will need a CAN code reader.

Thanks for the information from everyone. I will try the O2 sensor regarding the code.

Mr. Blue I have the same vette as you. I checked out your photos and the only visible difference is a blacked out my windows and rims. Also there are some nice cars in the photos, the elise, and Porsche?

I will have my vette in the shop this week and I will have them check out the suggestions given, thanks
