My new GS has idled rough since the day I drove it away from the Dealership 200 miles away from home. I took it to my local Chevy dealer at around 1,200 miles and they said the computer shows nothing is wrong. It always idles rough (sometimes really bad), cold start or warmed up doesn't seem to matter. Anyone else have this problem and if so how did you get it fixed?
Mine I would call rough...shakes like is has a hotter cam ! Idle speed is only slightly above 500 rpm....much too slow.
The LS3 is not a sophisticated engine at all to begin with man (pushrods with ONE cam), so you can't expect a Lexus V8 idle. Then add crappy tolerances to the already low idle rpm, and each car will vary quite a bit. Having said that, you should only feel a mild shaking, with minimal rpm needle variations. My '12 GS M6 can be smooth at moments, then start shaking a little. Auto cars tend to feel smoother because with the tranny in D, the engine is under load.
I'm still trying to get my 2009 ZR1 to stop idling rough. It ran fine for one day after a new SC was installed under warranty. After I washed it that day I went to put it in the garage and it sounded like a diesel engine. Now it's back in the shop waiting to be diagnosed. I pray to the corvette gods every time I take it back. So far the drivers side CF side skirt needs to be replaced and the custom painted engine caps need to be repainted. Tech really need to pay attention. I'm not feeling very good about this... Three weeks and I still have a rental.
My 09 LS3 did this when it was stock. It definitely has a small amount of cam "shake" to it at idle. It didn't do it all the time but often enough to notice.
