I dropped the car off at the dealer on Monday morning. Yesterday, I got a call saying that the body control module and another module (computers) were bad and needed to be replaced. These are not stock items and needed to be trucked in. 3-5 day delivery and then several hours to replace the defective parts. Thank goodness for the GMPP extended warranty. I don't want to think about how much this repair is going to cost. It took over a full day to just find the cause of the problems.
Picked up the car yesterday. They replaced the body control module and the door module. No idea what caused the problems. I put down the top and drove home. Everything seems to be OK except the Miles to empty showed 46 miles after I stopped and filled the tank. I think I'll drive it for a few days and see if it will reset to the correct mileage. If not, then I'll have to take it back to the shop.
Any ideas as to how to get this to reset and read correctly?
billsblue73,
The gas meters sometimes error if the car is driven at a very low gas level or if you get some poor quality gas. I'd recommend using some fuel treatment and see if it resets itself after this tank. Also, if you'd like I can call the shop and setup an appointment for them to take a look at it for you. In the meantime, I'd try the fuel treatment and see if the problem corrects itself.
Thanks for the tip. Since the tank was at 3/4 when I took it to the dealer, I just decided to drive it and see if the miles to empty would reset. For about the first 100 miles on the tank the number went higher to about 220 miles and since it has been going back down. With about a half tank, I'm showing 170 miles. So it looks like it may have corrected itself. I'll keep an eye on it ove the next few tanks and report any issues.
