Default Headers - Hooker or Kooks?

I am trying to suprise my husband with headers for Christmas however very overwhelmed with the brands. Can you please help me decide from Hooker headers part number 2183 or Kooks part number 6600ex. He mentioned wanting LG or Kooks. Never the less please let me know of any suggestions or deals you may know of! Thank you for taking the time to respond

His build is: bone stock + tune

2008 LS3 with NPP package tuned for E85

Hooker headers arent for his car, so those are out.

My recommendation would be to go with OBX headers. Same power, no install issues, half the price. I'd use them every time on every build. They're great headers.

Just fair warning, but you'll have plenty of people tell you not to get them simply because they don't like the fact they aren't US made and have unfounded preconceptions about them and have never dealt with them first-hand. These people, including some site vendors, don't know what they're talking about. I've never seen or heard of an OBX setup on the C6 Corvette having any issues.

They make great power and sound for a fraction of the price of the other overpriced headers.

Edit - I agree with the "buy American" standpoint, but I don't agree with spending literally 200% of the cost of OBX for another header that does the exact same thing (and that is not an exageration).

Can't go wrong with American Racing, Kook's or LG. So with that being said find the best price of one of these brands and you're golden.

Default Headers

I like the American Racing Headers. I just installed them on my car and love them to death. But you said one important thing. HE WANTED LG OR KOOKS. Like most we have a desire for a certain brand. Find the best deal on LG and He'll be very happy. He most likely has already done some research. I have had my wife buy me something and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I was happy but I could have been happier. Just my .02

***** I totally agree with your opinion of price mark up. I have seen how everything for a corvette cost more, such a mark up. I will be sure to do some researched on this brand!

LG seems to be the most expensive... He is such a practical guy, several months back he messaged me new headers he found for $600.00 but my ditsy a$$ I didn't save the link. So this is how my reached began. I want quality but a reasonable price. He also mentioned not 7/8' with no cat back is best for his build bc of the NPP. Idk...

The price is significantly more for LG virus Kooks, why is that? Sounds wise is one noticeably better??? In advance thanks for the feed back.

if I can find it, LG itself is having a sale on used LG headers. I'll post it by editing this one.

Since this is a gift, I'd strongly suggest calling the named person in this attached thread, Anthony, at LGM. You might also tell him it's a gift, and that you'd like it cleaned up as much as possible and ask what are the add-ons to make it immediately functional for your use. Note: I am not pushing any of the three companies mentioned.
