Default Squeaking after heads/cam install

Just finished up doing a heads/cam install and now on startup my belt is squeaking. I replaced with a new belt and it stopped for about half a mile then started back up. It's a pretty loud squeak. Does anybody have some tips on what I can check? Kind of at a loss. I did notice when changing the belt that it was pressed on the pulleys pretty tight, had to like pop it off. Don't know if that means anything.

Can you isolate the squeaking to a specific pulley? Maybe use something to spray onto the pulley while it's turning to see if you can shut it up and then you'll know where the problem is.

It clearly sounds like a pulley issue if swapping the belt briefly alleviated the problem.

What would you recommend spraying on the pulleys? Is it common for a pulley to just start acting up after it is re-installed? Very odd.....

Does not sound right you had press the belt off if your were using the tensioner correctly.

The alignment is easier to see from underneath, I had a crank pulley not seated correctly on one of my cam swaps.

Did this cause your belt to squeak? If it is aligned correctly it should be in line with all the other pulleys correct? I'll jack it up today and get underneath and check but not really sure what I am looking for. I'll see what I can find out.

I just use a quick spritz of something like a lubricant or WD-40

Yes they well squeak if out of align, especially the A/C.....you cannot see that one from the top side.

Did you reinstall the oem HB? If so, that is most likely the problem.
I had the exact same issue when I did H/C swap.

Pull your main belt and fire it up. If no squeeking, it's the HB.

You can try to tighten the bolt more. But reinstalling a pressed on pulley will many times result in the pulley slightly spinning on the crank.

Soln: pull-off crappy oem pulley. Purchase Powerbond pulley and install. Pinning the crank will also help aliviate any future problems. It sux having to pull the steering rack again. I hope that's not your issue.

Good luck brother...Call or txt if you need help.
