Hi, I broke the mounting to cradle differencial leg. I have replacement same 2.73 automatic differencial. Can you replace just the differencial in this automatic without removing the trans and forward drive train. Have lift so removing rear suspension and cradle no problem. I read that the 2005 Diffs were notorious for breaking.

You can. Just support the trans with a screw jack so it doesn't flop down and break your intake and oil pressure switch up front when the engine tilts.
But...the trans output shaft often bends when the diff case breaks. Be sure and check it for runout.
05 diffs are notorious for cracking in half like this.

I put in a c5 rear after mine broke.
Hey Joe, I thought that there may be a chance the trans output might have bent. Makes sense the shaft is long and it wouldn't take much to bend. I will check it out. Thanks for taking the time to help.
