Default Tire age vs wear

We just got our first corvette, a '06 C6 with 30k miles. It's in great shape. I'm told the tires have 90% tread and they look very good as well. Is there a date code on the tire and is age a consideration as well as mileage. I know from other posts that these can't be original with 30k miles and 90% life.
Thanks

There is a date code on the tires. I drove my 64 coupe 2100 miles from Los Angeles to San Antonio to Springfield at 65 MPH with 22 year old tires mounted. I wouldn't try that at speeds over 65 MPH though. Presently the tires on the 64 are 12 years old with ~5,000 miles and I just drove it at 75 MPH on the highway last Friday. As a disclaimer, the car is always stored in the garage, not directly exposed to the sun's UV rays.

Since the tires can dry rot from the inside it doesn't necessarily mean they are good if they look good. Typically most experts don't recommend driving on tires that are more than 10 years old even if you just bought them brand new from a tire dealer.

However, there are times when you can get away with it. Last year I had to use a trailer tire that was over 10 years old since I couldn't get a new one and for some reason or other I got through this year with the tire as well.

it's probably the second set, watch your inflation pressure's use a hand gauge the wheel sensors aren't too accurate and look for weather checks{cracks} around the bead' if not drive and enjoy! tires are pretty tough! tire guys WILL try anything to get you to buy! AND WHEN READY tire rack IS GREAT WAY TO GO. AND REMEMBER YOU CAN ROTATE THE TIRES SIDE TO SIDE. watch the insides of the front tire this is where you will see the most wear and it is not an alinement issue.
