Default Should I SUPERCHARGE ????????

I have an oppertunity to by a A&A super4charger kit used for $3000.00 without injectors. I know its a good deal but not sure if I should get an E-force instead. I like the sound of an E-force at idle and more torque but it is so much more money.!! Is it really a huge difference in the two superchargers? Should I just get the A&A and be happy with the savings??

My car is a 2006 C6, only 11,000 miles on it. I just installed longtube headers lastweekend and B&B axel back. Sounds tough but major drone on freeway. I may change axel back to Corsa or something.

I could use the advise. I have to make my decision today....Thanks guys for your help !!

Sounds like a good deal as injectors are relatively cheap. You may want to post your intended use for the new power (drag racing, track events, ect) so people can give you informed advice.

The A&A will have a lot more potential than the E-Force.

Get it, plan on another 1500-1700 for injectors, install and tuning and then start saving for better tires.

Both will make insane torque, the A&A will overpower your tires at any time you want it to. The e-force making more torque at lower RPM doesn't matter. Who starts a race or starts a hard run at 2500 rpms?

Couldn't have said it better.

It all depends what your looking for. Personally I happen to meet with the 70 year young gentleman who just had the edelbrock professionally installed by Chuck from Corvettes of westchester a few months back......and i had the opportunity to spend time with Eric who is not on the forum..

He was such a nice gentleman who just wanted a little more power than the stock 2009 corvette he owned had..

he had the headers...the billy boat exhaust..(which I thought was a bit loud) he had the 3.42 gears for his A6...

what a stunning installation. Really looked so OEM like. The owner Eric claimed his main interest was in more speed..(545rwhp) 680 flywheel..I think with the 20 percent loss on automatics) but even more important was utter reliability and OEM like maintaince..

The owner of the shop was not there as we went for a ride in this beautiful and mint 2009 Z51 black coupe and Eric was gushing over how happy he was with the edelbrock kit and of course the OEM like reliability and maintaince..

As I'm 52..and this gentleman was unbelievably 70...(which he didn't look) the edelbrock was more about adding enjoyment to the vehicle without loosing the OEM like reliablity..

Still at 3 grand for the well developed A&A supercharger kit it would be tough not to go that route..

You're in a good place to decide...but tripling the price is hard to imagine doing...and it sounds like you are a hell of a mechanic so any maintaince issues that might crop up..it sounds like you could easily handle..

I'm not talented in that area so I imagine I would pass on the kit...and rather go with the edelbrock if in fact I ever move forward..

As interested in the supercharger as I am...I always in the past tended to mod my three corvettes just before some new model comes out...that I have to have..to buy so with the new C7 just around the corner I'm waiting a bit..

Good luck and in your situation where you have the ability to work on your own cars as I think you mentioned..that AA kits for 3 grand sounds like a good way to go..(and they make a ton of power)

The centri kits from Procharger/A&A/ECS are all so well made that I don't really understand the 'reliability' part people always bring up.

It doesn't necessarily look stock, but it doesn't look that out of place either.

I'd go w/ the centri kit for sure... I'm not a fan of the eForce due to its lower power numbers and lack of upgradeability.

I'm far from an expert in supercharging so please don't take any of my previous words as an insult to whatever choice others have made..

The one thing I'm real good at is over the years is listening.. to friends who have supercharged their cars...

Maintaince on various other superchargers is often accepted at extremely low mileage intervals to get very high performance numbers.. and I definitely respect those achievements and the higher maintaince compromises that go along with that..

Belt changes breakages and other issues that for people who have the ability to either fix the cars themselves or have tuners keep the cars over periods of time often times go on without discussions on the internet...

And I'm going from my personal investigative journey and not specifically speaking about any particular brand of supercharger or any individual tuner per say..(So no flames towards me please)

Its common knowledge as you increase the hp ...reliability and maintaince can increase dramatically especially if you drive say 12k miles a year..

What impressed me about what I saw the other day with this 70 year young owner of the edelbrock..is he wasn't looking for the highest performance but rather just an extra kick in the pants laugh as he hammered the throttle and he wasn't interested in extra heavy maintaince intervals..

and thats one of the attractive features of the maggie (but with a hood) or the edelbrock..

To put it as clearly as possible...not all of us need any mod at all to enjoy the base 190mph capable four second flat corvette but sometimes..it might be fun to have an extra 100 or 200hp to have a few laughs..

Yes..there are many people that have successfully done this with other kits but the edelbrock looks to be...more of a designed in package that might offer those of us who are not mechanics the ability to close the hood and just drive the car as it was delivered from the OEM manufacturer..

Of course over time...who knows if that exactly will pan out...but thats what time is for.

right now...I think the edelbrock is a good choice...but not the best choice for the gentleman who is the originator of this thread. He clearly has mechanical ability and the time to invest to enjoy this wonderful preowned AA andy supercharger and thats a dam good kit too..

I hope I clarified what I posted earlier and have not incited any riot to create flames toward the more powerful supercharger kits out there..

If its actually a full A&A setup, I'd jump all over that. Heck, even if its the blower, intercooler and tubing I'd jump on it and piece the rest of it together. $3000 is a steal.

I own a magnacharged vehicle and procharged vehicle and like both. The cool thing about the centri kits is they don't add crazy tq low in the rpms which let's you progressively make more power which helps with traction. For the $3000 price I would not hesitate

$3,000 for an A&A kit is a good deal, I would go that route myself. There's also an ECS kit for sale on the boards too for a few dollars more. Good way to save a few $$ as long as your buying from a reputable seller!

Assuming there is nothing wrong with it that is a great deal. There are several centri kits for sale here right now, mine is the one Doug spoke of. I have loved being ECS supercharged! The only reason I'm selling is to go twin turbo for something new to play with. I think my kit is spoken for but the sale will not include the injectors so I will have some FIC FlowMax 60# injectors that I will be selling. $250 shipped.
