basically after modifying my suspension (and really getting to push the car) I started noticing a loud creaking/clicking during cornering .
for the last few months I have been chasing the problem, going through 2 sets of endlinks (1 factory set and then another set from Zip) and having rechecked almost everything I could think of on the suspension.
the last thing on my list was the rear axle nuts. After 10 bucks for a socket and 2 minutes work I have the problem cornered.
without this forum I would have never figured out exactly was causing this noise that has been driving me crazy for the last few months. Thanks to everyone here who has posted technical information about these cars.

I saw your other thread. Which socket did you wind up using: 33, 34 or 1 5/16?
34, because it was the only socket available that was deep enough. A 33 or 1 5/16 would have fit better, but the 34 worked well enough to torque the nut to approx 120lbft and figure the problem out. Since the new nuts are supposed to be 34mm, there shouldnt be any problems with the swap.
Ive just got to decide loctite or nord-locks ($50 bucks for a 5pk of the thinner ones or $25 for 2 of the thicker ones).
