I have never owned either a Corvette or 911 Porsche.
Before I buy new I have 3 burning questions:
1) What is the interval and cost for oil changes?
2) What is the interval and cost for a major tuneup?
3) Iridium spark plugs better than Platinum and Copper?
I want high gas mileage, long wear with only a minimal performance hit.
Non-turbo with automatic transmission and paddle shifters.
I don't know why everyone is getting all worked up.
Google Search? Forum Search? Wasting dealers time? He's a ricer for asking if it has a belt/chain?
Seriously, what is wrong with all of you?
If Chevy actually couldn't answer that question nearly immediately there's something quite wrong and I'd be upset/complaining about it as well.
I find the situation to be believable as I experienced Cadillac parts department 100% being unable to identify what brake pads were on my dad's STS that had an optioned upgraded brake package. Final solution? We should take the brake pads off, sketch their outline, and attempt to match them to several different part numbers we were provided. So yeah, I can believe that they weren't able to answer his simple question.
I can't believe people are actually defending this as being ok. If this is true, I'm behind the OP 100%

Floyd, many of us have realized over the years that dealers have little knowledge of the products they sell today. Even some of the folks who perform work know only as much as they read in the manual and little more. I have told several mechanics how to fix the very cars they are certified on...
I personally am not surprised that a salesman has no idea of what's under the hood. Several of them have been on the job for literally weeks and aren't "car guys" like the old days. Why would you be so surprised that a salesman has no idea of the specifics?
A forum search is relatively simple and will spare the off topic discussion that we find ourselves in more often than we would like.
