Default 10s on the stock stall!

I finally did it, and I'm thrilled. It was coming for a long time and when I heard the radio announcement on my second run I knew I was getting kicked out for not having a roll bar. All I heard was the "99" and the SEG just filled my face haha.

November 4th 2011 at Cecil Country Drag Strip in Rising Sun, MD - 9:20 PM

60' .... 1.776
330 ... 4.772
1/8 .... 7.189
MPH . 103.01
1000 .. 9.261
1/4 ... 10.996
MPH . 130.13

2010 Corvette Automatic w/ NPP exhaust

My mods are as follows:
Airaid CAI
Unported TB
Complete Street Performance Ported Intake Manifold
Complete Street Performance Spec Baby Cam
Milled LS3 heads with a valve job, no porting
Kooks 1-7/8 Inch Headers
Custom NPP "Wild" Switch
Hoosier Drag Radials on GTO rims

A little more about my setup... It is running on the stock stall. The cam I specced was a 224 intake duration with under .580 lift. I put a good bit of exhaust duration on it to give it some more sound, but I wanted to be able to launch the car decently, and it worked just as planned. The car drives like stock, but still lopes like my old Spinmonster Cam (230/234 114).

However, in retrospect I wish I had put some more lift and less exhaust duration in this setup, but I'm still happy. Head job added 18-20 across the board, which I feel was some that I would have gotten from a little bit larger lift.

As far as the progression, I believe this is how it was, but I'm hazy on it.
Bone Stock - 378 rwhp - 12.0 @ 122 MPH (120 without the massive tail wind, same time)
Headers - 402 rwhp - 11.7 (can't remember MPH)
Cam - 450 rwhp - 11.3s
Milled heads - 470 rwhp - 11.1 @128
Ported Intake Manifold - estimated at 480 rwhp (I haven't had a chance to strap my car down to my own dyno haha) 10.9 @ 130 MPH

The powerband is awesome. It made about 440 rwtq before porting, I expect it to be closer to 480 rwhp and 450 rwtq now. But pre-porting it was making 450 rwhp+ from 5500 to redline. It really plateaued nicely and you can really tell when driving it.

Again the following graph is without the porting.

And here is the slip (Right lane)

Now that I hit my coveted 10s I guess we gotta figure out where to go from here. Roll cage is a necessary if I want to keep racing... So perhaps that, built tranny, high stall converter, upgraded fuel system, E85... and boost. =)

I did buy a LS3 stroker to slap in, but I've decided I may want to stick with stock cubes and just run a stupid amount of boost.

Default Stock heads ?

What you have there is really great. 480 RWHP with stock Heads Milled.
A Ported FAST 102 just might get you to that magic 500 and a couple miles/Hr faster. Good work. Leon

He said he had a tail wind. Nothing fishy about his car. He tunes my car and I'm headers tune, 11:8 @119-120 consistantly, which is around the same ball park. I'm A6 as well.

Trust me, I know 122 its nuts, trapped 121 that day too. It didn't repeat it without the tail wind. It did however trap 120 consistently on a different day without the tailwind.

As mentioned, the DA was definitely right for these runs. And after my last record setting run with my 08 I didn't even put my laptop in the car for the first two weeks to avoid any kind of controversy, let alone do anything to it haha.

As for the stock runs, I'm pretty sure I just left it in sport mode, did a nice burn out, and launched at about 1000 rpms.

Haha, I was thinking of that, but that will be last on the list. I'm still not sure the future boost application yet. The big debate I'm having here is if I should slap a stall in it or not... At one end, I'd really like to see how far I can take this stock stall. At the other end, putting one in would easily hit 10.5s, maybe even less as it sits.

I know for sure that I want it to be a lock up converter at WOT. I'm hoping that can help me retain some street manners, although I have a feeling it may not. I'm also debating if I'll have to completely redo my street tune, perhaps tuning "D" to only use 2nd gear, and leaving "S" for the track to start in first with drag radials on.

My goal is for the car to be a streetable, reliable, monster. Capable of running 9s... and maybe even less. And cost effective haha.

However, if I do anything else before the end of the year I'm going get bigger injectors and switch to e85. Perhaps with the higher compression I'll be able to pull out some better dyno numbers than gas.

On my 08 I didn't gain anything on the dyno, although it sure felt like it had more torque on the street. But my 08 didn't have the milled heads my 2010 does...

Thanks everyone for the congrats. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress! If anyone has any questions about my build let me know. I think I posted in detail, but you never know what I missed lol.

Those that don't realize the gain from a tailwind haven't drag raced long enough lol...congrats on the 10 Andrew!
