BTW, this could have been posted in General, so if someone wants to move it they can.

It doesn't matter to me either way.

Been driving C6s for 7 years. Been running runflats for 7 years. Have had 5 flats and didn't have to stop & change tires once.

I use both, I still have my original runflats on my stock rims but rarely are all four of them on the car at the same time as I also have quite a few combinations of drag radials that I drive on the street as well.

That's some seriously bad luck!

I've had one flat in the last 7 years.

I voted "always runflats", but I do have non-runflats for the track.

I've had 3 C6's over 7 years, and I've had about 5 or 6 punctures. I've had more punctures with these tires than about all other cars I've driven over the last 50 years!?!?

A couple of them have been when I'm about 30 or 40 miles from home at night, and it sure is nice to just drive home and take care of the problem the next day!!

I've had tons of punctures in my tires, but never ones that resulted in a quick loss of air. Usually 1-2psi a day max until I realize it and fix it.

No spare = run flats for me. This is my DD.

Over the years I've had a few occasions where if not for run flats or a spare I'd have been screwed.

Well, you are lucky and many of us don't fair so well. I had my '07 Coupe three months and had two flats. These cars have no spare tire or jack and without an air pump/tire plug kit, there is no way I am driving with non-runflat tires.

Well I agree....I have an airpump/tire kit in both my XLR-V and C6.

I didn't say that wasn't an option I have the SLIME brand "Smart Spair" in both as well as traditional plug kits. Never had to use either in 5 years on the road though.

DD and no runflats. I couldn't justify the extra cost for a good runflat so I went with Invos last time.

I do need to pickup a mini repair kit and compressor, though.

Non-runflats. Have a mini compressor and patch/plug kit that I hope to never have to use.

I bet Ennis Cosby (Bill Cosby's son) would still be alive if he had runflats on his Mercedes.

He was driving to visit a friend and while going down the freeway at night he had a flat. He drove down the off-ramp to change the tire and while doing it was shot in the head by some druggy. If he had runflats he would driven the short distance to his friend's place and taken care of the tire in a safer place.

I got a "ding-ding-ding" and a low pressure message on the DIC while driving down a remote section of interstate about 40 miles from home a couple years ago.

My wife said "what was that?" and was kind of alarmed when I told her it was a low pressure message about the left rear tire.

She asked "what are we going to do?", and I told her we'll drive home and I'll take care of it the next day.

Runflats are great - won't drive the Vette on the street without them!!!

Bob

There was a time when runflat = runcrap.
Today, not so. A local autocross ace told me his PS2 runflats performed better than the same tires in non-runflat style. Ride might have been a bit softer, too.

In addition to the advantages mentioned above, a runflat is better if you hit something big enough to give a blowout-type deflation at speed. I recall a couple of C5 guys telling about sudden flats at over 100 mph, the first clue was the DIC & chime, no handling problems.

Default Runflats

Driving on the roads (non interstate) in mostly rural Nevada in a Vette with no spare and limited cell coverage--Let me think about that for a second? Runflats are the only way to go. The newer versions of the runflat tires are much better than the old GY's. I also run down Hwy 318 (Silver State Classic Challenge) at a 150 plus for 90 miles twice a year. Much safer with the TPMS and the runflats. The runflats probably saved a ZR1 last May. He was at a buck fifty when he got the TPMS warning. He got it slowed down and cleared the road with no problems. The right front tire pressure was near zero when he got out of the car. He is a firm believer.

Replaced the OEM runflats with Nitto Invo's at 17500 miles. Have had the INVO's for about 5000 miles now, came out one morning to the DIC stating "Right rear tire flat".
Found out I picked up THREE screws! I removed the wheel and took it to Discount Tire Center for repair. No problems since. Thank the Good Lord it happened at home.
My new CTS Coupe has no spare, but does come equipped with a flat repair kit.
