Default Installing dipstick

So I got done with my heads/cam install and I can't seem to get the dip stick re-installed and I have no idea why lol. Are there any tips? I've tried everything but it almost seems like my header pipe is in the way? Just to be clear, the dip stick goes in between the 2 and 3rd pipes correct? I am baffled.

Shine a flashlight down there. You should see the hole with little trouble. It takes a bit of luck/skill, but once in there once you will be able to do it again in seconds. It's more of a feel thing... Remember that there's an o-ring that will give you some resistance. Are you pushing hard enough to pop it in?

If you read that reply without knowing what is being discussed, it takes on a whole different meaning.

Does it feed in from the middle of the pipes or closer to the back 1

There is only one place it bolts to on the head. and it curves down behind your 3rd spark plug right beside the wire connection on the starter. If you take off the spark plug wire it is easier to see with a flashlight.

Sorry, didn't mean to be distracting. It is funny though, just read it to the wife and she is cracking up!

I found it funny but chose not to reply because I understand the op is frustrated. Now after he gets the car running he will probably come back on here read that post and get a really good laugh.

Understand and had same difficulty. You've probably got it done by now but what I finally did was put the actual stick in the 'holder'. The stick is longer and flexible and easier to get in the hole . Then just thread the holder down onto it so it lines up with the mounting place on head. I had played with it quite a while before trying this. When I finally did this I was done in less than 5 minutes.

Good luck!

Not sure I understand. The long flexible piece has a giant O ring at the top that you use to pull it out. How can the cover tube go over it?

Two ways to get the dip stick in.
Remove the dipstick from the tube. With the battery disconnected and after sliding the dipstick tube/guide down between the exaust header tubing (where you see the hole for the bracket screw) push the wires from the starter aside (with the end of the dipstick tube) and you can see where the dipstick goes in. You may have to use a light if you are in the garage.

Second way is to feed the dipstick tube between the header. Get under car. Have someone push it in whild you guide it into the hole. You will be able to see the notching where the dipstick goes in the block from under the car.
